Self Care as World Care

This is a message of love and care for the empaths and tender hearted humans out there who may be finding it hard to care for yourself amidst painful outer realities.

With so much intensity, heartbreak and violence in our world, it can be very challenging to turn towards ourselves with compassion… and, it continues to be absolutely essential to tend our own energy and wellbeing.

Sometimes it can seem like a conflict: Do we care for the world "out there," or the worlds within our own personal networks, families, and bodies? I find it orienting to remember that there is really no such separation -- everything is interconnected, from deep within our cells to the cosmos and everything in between.

When you care for yourself, you are not only becoming available for what's beyond your own being, you are also caring for "the world" in a very direct and tangible way. I like to remind my clients, "What's happening inside you is happening in the world. So, it matters."

The reverse can also be possible, especially if held with compassion and skill: Caring for others and the world around us is also a form of self-care. We are all interrelated.

Here's a visual I like to return to and share in my classes:
