Observing Small Things

Often when the weather is beautiful we like to take trips to the Bird Sanctuary!

Before making our way there we might do mindful movement activity to help draw us together. Here’s an activity to try out to get grounded before your next trail visit:

1) Using your imagination, and your body, try picking up an seed between two fingers.

2) Give it a sniff to see what kind of plant it might grow intoand

3) Now try planting, patting down and watering the seed in imaginary soil in front of your body.

At the Bird Sanctuary, we made pipe cleaner "looking glasses" to help
us observe details around us, one at a time.  We played and explored,
collecting images of this beautiful place in our minds.  Then, we
wrote and drew about what we saw in special books.  Some of us took
them home, and some of us left them in the Little Free Library box in
the park, for others to enjoy.
