Foraging Adventures and Impromptu Art

Our Weaving Wilderness friends enjoyed a walk through a local bird sanctuary today, practicing foraging for art materials. We found so many cool objects and natural bits, some of which we placed in our forage basket, and some of which we had to leave behind. We refreshed our foraging principles knowledge, which are:

1) Try to forage for things that we see in “abundance.”

2) Take only some, leave more than you take.

3) Don’t take things that look intentionally placed, constructed, or you think someone might come back for!

4) Thank the plants, animals, and earth for it’s offerings.

We happened to find, and forage, chunks of charcoal leftover from a small fire! Someone’s previous adventures lent us some unforeseen fun as we left some art on a Sanctuary bench.
