Crafting Large-As-Life Puppets
Our weaving wilderness group put on their mad scientist hats today to imagine and assemble creatures out of “trash”! We’ve been foraging and tuning our eyes to some prime spots along our daily walk, gathering interesting bits and bobs for some time now. Today we got to lay out cardboard boxes, half gallon jugs, bottles, and paper towel rolls to re-evision them as parts of a puppet. We saw snouts, eyes, ears, fangs, tongues, and beaver tails.
Some friends opted for mechanical parts, incorporating twine to create mobile limbs. We also worked together to problem solve joints, process material for each other, and imagine details for each others puppets. We will be covering these critters in a home made paper clay material—which you can see us preparing for with cut scraps.
