Becoming the Movement of Trees

Today we gathered under some trees to explore a calming and creative activity that is wonderful for kids and people of all ages.

1.

Lying on your back, look up at the trees.

Notice every ”thing” you can notice. leaves, branches, sky, sun, birds…

Now, notice colors and shades of color. green, brown, orange, glowing…

Next, appreciate all the kinds of shapes you can find. long, pointy, blotches…

Finally, what kinds of movement do you see? quick, slow, soft, shaky…

2.

Stand or sit up and share with your body the kinds of movement you saw in the trees. This can be done one at a time at first, or everyone can try on each others’ movements.

3.

Improvise a dance all together with the many movements of trees.
